NH Network for Environment, Energy & Climate
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to promote environmental democracy, by bridging information & communication gaps among the state’s amazing environmental organizations, as well as with the public. Existing groups often ask similar questions and may pursue overlapping goals. Our goal is to provide an information platform that is accessible to the whole public, as well as to legislators. Across NH, municipal energy committees also stand to benefit from more communication. We generate monthly webinars with guest experts on helpful topics (how/ why to engage in community power aggregation, effects of energy building codes on human health, environmental bills before the legislature, composting, plastic pollution, offshore wind & marine life, and much more). Through emails & weekly newsletters we promote actions such as State Climate Plan input, help towns threatened by landfills, or facilitate environmental democracy by encouraging our members (the public) to testify for or against relevant legislation under consideration. We currently have 5 Working Groups, created in response to member interest: Plastics Reduction, Municipal Energy Committees, Climate, Environmental Justice, Communications. Legislators and members from other environmental organizations engage in many of our activities, relying on us to promote their actions and insights on legislative policies developed in the State House or by regulatory agencies.
