NH Healthy Climate (formerly New Hampshire Network for Environment, Energy & Climate)
Our Purpose
We aim to foster clean, cost-effective investments & environmentally responsible policies, laws & regulations, making New Hampshire a leader rather than a laggard in addressing pollution and climate change. We work to equip a diverse spectrum of NH citizens to achieve equitable energy & environmental policies for a clean, resilient & economically affordable future. We offer monthly educational webinars, sponsor working groups that plan actions at local & statewide levels, & produce weekly newsletters alerting members to environmental events being sponsored across the state. The archived webinars on our website get a lot of traffic. Work groups offer concrete local actions, as in the “Ten Towns Toolkit,” a how-to of activist work from 54 NH towns, now seen in 70 countries. Our most visited webpage is the Legislative Spreadsheet at newhampshirenetwork.org/bills-action – a digest of information we receive from NH environmental groups with which we partner. While remaining nonpartisan & nonpolitical, the intent of the Spreadsheet is educating NH citizens about proposed legislation that will have environmental impacts. The outcomes often show beneficial legislation being thwarted by policymakers in our state capitol, harmful legislation moving forward. Thus, we work to balance local & state action, wrestling with how to remain nonpolitical while advancing environmental goals, filling an identified media gap.
