Our Purpose

At Fairfield Hills in Newtown this  project adds to the colletive landscape along a walking trail lined with edible fruit trees, nut trees, berry bushes and healing native plants called the Newtown Fruit Trail.  The Fruit Trail is a demonstration of best practice land-use techniques, drawing on a large variety of native, fruiting plants and wildflowers to create a sefl-suffieient ecosystem that provides for the health and wellbeing of the land, the wildlife and the community as one.  The Friut Trail was created by a now MA based nursery called the Global World Repair Nursery, that exists to perform edible, ecological restoration wherever the lan and people will benefit.  From start to finish, this was an incredibly revolutionary process, using uniquly conceived design and installaion techiques to include the community every step of the way while drawing on food-forest models to create a living legacy that benefits the town and the planet for generations to come.  Standing back three seasons later, the project is a success, already beautiful to behold, drawing together members of the community and improving the heath of the very land it grows.   The trail is a step away from models that cause harm to the planet, replacing them with methods that meet public and plentary needs as one.  In Newtown, there is  a measure of wealth and value that considers the health of the land and community as one.
