Our Purpose
NEW ENGLAND MASKATEERs is a group of volunteers who are coming together to stitch face masks for our NH & MA Frontliners who is in midst of COVID-19 deadly virus. This team of 63 volunteers and growing has come together virtually overnight through grassroots networking via social media to become a serious, well-organized response to the national and global shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for medical staff and other essential workers. The leaders have mobilized volunteers to gather supplies, cut fabric, extract filter material, strategize designs and gather community support to produce masks for medical staff, shelter staff, first responders and emergency childcare workers. To date, they have distributed well over 1,500 masks. Recently the team added community member Chris Knoetig, a Nashua School District CTE teacher and some of his students using 3D printing capability to craft masks. The current team is producing nearly 150 masks per day and distributing throughout New England primarily in NH and Massachusetts...While not a substitute for the medical-grade N95 masks, these masks use high-quality HEPA filter inserts which dramatically increase the protection compared to no masks or cotton masks without filters. The medical centers and other nonprofit agencies and first responders continue to be in need and we anticipate the demand will continue to grow in the coming weeks.
