Our Purpose

A collaboration with local community organizers and gardeners, the Neighborhood Grow Plan: Growing Food Secure Futures is designed to encourage and support families renting in Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, and now Holyoke, Springfield and Chicopee to grow where they live.  Our program supports people to know their rights and build community through growing food.  We particularly want to build community with immigrant families, because many immigrant communities are even more vulnerable due to language barrier and also may have valuable growing knowledge. This project launched at the beginning of the pandemic with a forecasted understanding that food security will be key in an uncertain future. We build sustainable liberatory futures when we have food in our bellies. Knowing the limitations in capacity and resources when scaling up, we have designed a program that is flexible.
