to build a school garden at Mullen-Hall elementary school in Falmouth, MA. Our goal is to bring together parents and teachers of all grade levels and unite them in creating a garden space that will benefit the students and the school community. We feel that a school garden will not only enrich learning in every academic subject, but will be a vehicle that will cultivate a sense of ownership and community pride among students and families. We also believe that the lessons the students learn in the garden by growing their own food will follow them home, affecting the way they eat. Studies have shown that when children grow their own food they are more likely to make healthy food choices. So, while our approach is through academics, we expect physical benefits to take place as well.
