LEAD (Latinos for Educational Advocacy and Diversity) was created to empower underrepresented communities in Waterbury through education, civic engagement, and youth development. Our goal is to build equity and opportunity by supporting young people in becoming informed, confident, and active members of their community.The LEAD Youth Summer Program was launched in response to the urgent need for accessible, enriching opportunities for teens in Waterbury. Many youth ages 15–19 face barriers to leadership development, employment skills, and civic participation. Our 5-week summer program addresses these gaps by offering workshops in leadership, wellness, college and career readiness, civic engagement, and artistic expression.This work is deeply rooted in our belief that Waterbury’s future depends on the strength and voices of its youth.
