Our Purpose

Missions of Mercy and Grace was founded out of a deeply personal calling by its founders, Alexis Davis and Dushawn Jones. Having endured significant personal challenges—including homelessness, addiction, incarceration, and poverty—they emerged with a powerful resolve to serve others facing similar struggles. Their mission is grounded in lived experience and fueled by compassion, resilience, and the belief that every person deserves dignity, stability, and a second chance. The organization was created to be a lifeline for individuals and families in crisis, particularly in urban communities like Greater Hartford, where the need is urgent and often overlooked. We are committed to uplifting underserved neighborhoods by providing emergency aid, long-term support, and the resources necessary for people to rebuild their lives.Beyond meeting basic needs, we are deeply invested in nurturing long-term well-being. One of its core priorities is ensuring access to healthy, nourishing food in communities that have been impacted by food insecurity and systemic disinvestment. The organization not only feeds people but also works to inspire a shift toward conscious, sustainable, and ecological living. Through education, example, and access, they aim to promote behavioral change that empowers individuals to care for their health, their communities, and the planet.
