Between us, we have a body of experience working in the Middletown community on local food projects and issues relating to local food security. Three of us have helped develop a very similar food distribution cooperative on campus, and our time creating and growing that organization informs our work as we look to transfer that model into a business that serves Middletown residents. Many of our other group members have worked with the Middletown Food Project during its first season this past summer, and all of us have been involved in community food organizations, like the local farmers' market. We plan to leverage our prior work and community ties to help launch the Middletown Food Initiative in order to fill a gap in food access during the late Fall, Winter, and early Spring.
