Our Purpose

To improve wages and benefits for low wage and immigrant workers, Massachusetts Interfaith Worker Justice (MIWJ) amplifies grassroots voices and leadership, builds bridges between labor and faith partners in solidarity, and educates and mobilizes people for worker justice and a living economy.  Our activities are based upon shared deeply–rooted values of economic and social justice:1) protecting the dignity and rights of workers by broadening the base of support and by actions for systemic change; 2) promoting social, racial, and economic justice by organizing with worker-led campaigns, using racial equity and immigrant rights lenses;  3) increasing collective power with other organizations, including offering faith-based perspectives on worker justice issues and the contextual environment.  MIWJ seeks to increase economic security for low wage workers and their families.  Acting from the basis that working for justice is intrinsic to faith, MIWJ plays a unique role in raising the public profile regarding the struggles faced by low-wage and immigrant workers - access to basic resources for nutritious food, safe and affordable housing, public transportation, and sustainable, healthy communities.
