Our purpose is to serve those experiencing homelessness by providing safe shelter and warmth during the winter months, recognizing each person’s inherent dignity and unique circumstance.The MWC offers comfort, healthy meals, warm clothing and toiletries, and the all-volunteer staff works to connect guests to needed services including permanent housing, substance use treatment, and health + mental health services.It is an important part of the MWC philosophy to face food insecurity head on, both by providing guests with enough food to last them all day, and by collaborating with multiple local organizations to rescue food that would typically go to waste. To this end, we intend to launch a year-round program to serve a weekly community dinner, made entirely from rescued food, as part of our continuing outreach efforts.
