Our purpose is to serve as an information and advocacy gateway for immigrants and newcomers. The lack of information is a two-way street~~newcomers do not know where to find needed resources (in their language) and service providers do not know how to find the specific ethnic community leaders who can provide cultural brokering services. Case Managers, social workers, doctors and nurses--all have difficulty coordinating resources to tend to each person's unique needs. Every group from every country of origin in Africa has its own ECBO (Ethnic Community Based org); indeed, there are so many that it is confusing to providers.
