Our Purpose

Our purpose is to start a much needed conversation in our tradition, suburban New England town on racial justice, implicit bias in the food system, and stewardship. Everyone must come to the table! We believe Soul Fire Farm (www.soulfirefarm.org), a working farm and social justice leader near Albany, New York, will 1)help neighbors and friends in all corners of our town understand the implicit bias in the farming/food system against BIPOC (Black and Indigenous People of Color) and why working to change this system is critical to the health and wellness of all people, 2)bring awareness to the importance of reconnecting to the land especially as we consider the impact of climate change on our community, country and planet, and 3)provide a catalyst for an investment in a professional development program for our public school district which would include a full series of workshops offered by Soul Fire Farm.  In the long term, this conversation will bring environmental and sustainability literacy to all, which is essential for our future.
