Our Purpose

Morrisville Community Gardens has been around for more thant 25 years. In the past 10 years we have created more of a community space. Raised garden boxes, a shed with shared tools, seed swaps, nontill areas.  This is a garden that now interests families, individuals young and old, apartment dwellers that live in our downtown, organic growers and more. We have a very specific guidelines about organic growing that everyone adhers to. We help each other, have community water that the town pays for as the plots are on town owned land. We are looking to grow a bit more. Our garden steward as well as the assistant would love to have Mantis Tiller, to keep our pathways clean (as they ar every narrow), keep weedseed from growing up between the 30 plus plots. Another item on our wish list is a weed wacker, one that could keep our edges clean, keep weed down and be a part of our community garden shed. All mechanical tools would be handled only by the garden steward and the assistant, training would be necessary and it would completely change our community gardens.   As I have seen the gardens evolve over the last bunch of years it has warmed my heart to see a lot of our gardens come from apartment in our downtown. They don't own tools, they don't have space but they come to the gardens smiling as they produce many vegetables for their homes.  thank you,
