to manage and oversee Long Lane Organic Farm. Started in 2006 by a small forum of students interested in sustainable agriculture, the group now runs a two-acre organic farm in Middletown, CT. We organize all farm activities, which include everything from growing vegetables and raising chickens to selling produce to Wesleyan's dining service and at the Middletown Farmer's Market. Our non-heirarchical group aims to promote the mission of Long Lane Farm: Long Lane is a cooperatively-run organic farm that employs ecological practices to provide the Middletown and Wesleyan community with good, clean food. We strive to collapse the boundary between work and play, between productivity and creativity, through applied practice and experiential agricultural learning. Long Lane Farm is a site of collaboration within our local community that demonstrates the vital importance of small farms in a just and sustainable food system.
