The main objectives of Local Foods Plymouth (LFP) are to reduce the miles that food travels from farm to plate, increase avenues for farmers and growers in the Plymouth area to sell their products locally, and encourage people in the Plymouth area to purchase food from local farms by making it easy, fun and reliable. The Plymouth Area Renewable Energy Initiative (PAREI), whose mission is to encourage energy conservation and energy efficiency practices and to promote the use of renewable energy, launched LFP in June 2006 and continues to fund the project from its profits from their energy work.
