Our Purpose

to increase access to local and organic produce in Providence while supporting cooperative efforts of small scale, organic, and beginning farmers in Rhode Island. We enable small businesses to thrive by giving them access to markets that have already been developed, fostering cooperation among farmers, and allowing small farms to pool resources and products so that we can offer a wide selection of produce and share the work of running the market stand and organizing restaurant sales.

Summary of Projects

Little City Growers Coop received a grant in 2011 for web programming classes and 3 bike trailers to expand the Coop, increase community outreach and involve more (part-time) starting urban farmers.

Little City Growers received a grant in 2006 to expand the operations of the Coop. Support was used to move the presence in the community beyond the famers' market by developing a useful cooperative model for restaurant sales. Specifically, money was used for promotion, coordination and delivery expenses.
