Our Purpose

Our purpose is to strengthen long-term community well-being by addressing a critical but often overlooked barrier to opportunity: early childhood vision. We believe that access to basic health needs, like vision screening, is directly connected to a child’s ability to learn, succeed in school, and ultimately contribute to a healthy, thriving local economy. Our work began after multiple children, including my own son, were identified as needing vision support during a screening at my childcare program. It became clear that many families—especially those with limited resources—are missing early detection, leading to delays that can impact educational outcomes and future stability. By providing free, accessible vision screenings for children under five, we are working to reduce these barriers at the earliest stage. This not only supports individual children and families, but also contributes to stronger educational outcomes and more equitable long-term economic opportunities within the community. As we grow, our goal is to expand this model across Michigan and beyond, creating a sustainable approach that supports both child development and community economic health.
