Our Purpose

Lettuce Grow Food (LGF) formed as an afterschool program for middle and high schoolers to learn where their food comes from and have a way to access more healthy food. LGF is a partnership between the schools and the community. We have a garden on school grounds that is used mostly for the afterschool and summer programs. There is another garden that we share with the Episcopal Church, aimed at practicing farming techniques. Freedom Park Garden was our first community garden run by youth, and we are hoping to expand to another community site.  Goals: 1. Provide people more locally sources and healthy food, especially to those who can't afford. 2. Bringing people together across our differences to see our commonalities. Getting to know people in our communit to build trust and eliminate fear. 3.  Teach young people how to grow their own food and create a place for fun and laughter
