Our long term goal is to strengthen the foundation for youth to become self-reliant, growing up strong, responsible, healthy, at peace with their families and colleagues, service-oriented, engaged in their communities, well educated, debt-free, and an advocate for transformational ways of achieving shared community goals.  What we have learned since we began work almost two years ago, is that youth only need a prod, a “shove” in the right direction, inspirational messaging that they can and will succeed, to believe in their own ability to succeed and to make larger positive changes in their relationships with friends, family, spiritual connections, teachers, doctors, people on the street. Youth tell us that it is all about knowing and accessing the levers of power (decision makers) who determine whether they will succeed; our role in this is to respect, dignify, appreciate, provide access, support all activities that improve levels of education, career building, volunteerism, relationships with other ethnic communities, team work in order to build and strengthen pathways to realizing individual self-worth and aspirations for growth and achievement.
