Our purpose is to reduce the use of single use plastic in our community through education and through passing local ordinances to ban single use plastic bags and styrofoam. We have scheduled a number of events and educational opportunities for businesses and individuals leading up to a November ballot initiative. We view this as a multi-year effort to move towards a more reusable, waste-free community. We are working closely with the Natural Resources's Coucil of Maine's Sustainable Maine project and plan to support efforts for a statewide ban on single use plastics.
