Our Purpose

Our work takes action against the lack of representation of people of color in outdoor spaces and wellness communities. As African immigrant women, we have seen how many people from our communities feel disconnected from nature and public outdoor spaces in Maine, even though land, environment, and collective wellbeing are deeply valued in our cultures. Through culturally grounded gatherings, movement, and outdoor experiences, we create spaces where immigrant women and youth can reconnect with nature, feel a sense of belonging in Maine’s forests and parks, and see themselves reflected as leaders in wellness and environmental care. Our goal is to build a stronger presence of Black and immigrant voices in outdoor and healing spaces while fostering community connection to land, resilience, and collective wellbeing.
