KRRD received a grant in 2008 to continue to advocate for responsible application of wetlands regulation to the relevant Town bodies involved in the approval process of development and to continue to serve as a public awareness model to others who wish to have a locally based forum to express their combined public interest in protecting private property, public health and environmentally sensitive areas.
Kingston Residents for Responsible Development
Our Purpose
to keep the issue of increased development pressure of originally substandard lots with substandard wetlands on the forefront. Rapid suburban growth in South Kingstown has used up the most easily developable land, and pressure is mounting to develop historically recorded lots with moderate to severe hydric constraints. The development of parcels not serviced by public sewers has been aided with technological advancements in Individual Septic Disposal Systems. While these high denitrifying technology systems address the processing of waste, the unsuitability of the land does not change with respect to storm flow drainage from post development conditions. Various organizations have begun to examine the ramifications of this new technology on marginal lands. This effort was accomplished as a results of public interest, and KRRD's efforts to bring this issue into the public forum.
