Our Purpose

Our purpose is to...Family Day Foundation is a community created 501(3) (c) with two major programs; Keney Park Sustainability Project (KPSP) and the annual Family Day Event.   KPSP is the organization’s most current and holistic project to date which engages the community in a variety of areas including: health and nutrition education, landscaping, forest management, waste stream reduction, building and design, and urban agriculture.  These programs have a primary focus in the federally designated Promise Zone.   Goals:   The primary goals of the organization are as follows:To support the development and sustainability of community-based food systems, i.e., farmers markets, community gardens, school based gardening, agricultural project and home gardens.To protect and preserve the 693 acre urban forest named Keney Park by providing individuals employable landscaping and forest management skills.  As a result creating the next generation of employable parks workers and Environmental stewards.To educate families about the impact of the environment on mental, physical and spiritual health by practicing sustainable techniques that promote a healthy symbiotic relationship between us and our environment.  Needs served by KPSP include Food Insecurity, Health & Nutrition, Job Creation, Job Training, Environmental Awareness, and Stewardship.
