Keene Multicultural Center
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to establish Keene's first multicultural community center to be a welcoming safe inclusive space for cultural engagement and a resource hub.Keene thrives to be that diverse and vibrant rural community that is welcoming to all. And given the existence of groups such as the City of Keene Human Rights Committee, Keene’s Jonathan Daniels Center, Keene State College Cohen Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Keene Immigrant and Refugee Partnership (KIRP) and Project Home, much work is being done to foster diversity and inclusivity in the community. However, despite our growing tapestry of cultures, we currently lack a dedicated public space that celebrates and promotes inclusivity, understanding, and appreciation of our diverse community members and diverse cultures. To address this gap, Keene needs a multicultural center. The center will serve as a hub for cultural exchange, education, community engagement and community resources. The envisioned center will offer various programs and services, including:1. Cultural Events and Exhibitions2. Language and Cultural Workshops.3. Community Support Services 4. Entrepreneurial and collaborative arts activities. The Keene Multicultural Center project has been established to work towards this objective. The project is incubated and fiscally sponsored by Monadnock Arts Alive, an established 501c3 non profit organization.
