JustME for JustUS (JMJU) is a youth-led project of Campaign Earth and the Maine Environmental Education Association dedicated to advancing civic engagement and climate justice in Maine. We launched in 2020 out of frustration and vision. Our founding team recognized how much of the climate justice organizing in Maine is centered around southern Maine and larger towns, offering resources, networks, grants, and funding mainly to more urban centers. We also noticed how youth civic work and climate organizing seemed to exist in separate spheres, rarely coordinating or combining forces.  JMJU aims to address these gaps and build a strong foundation for rural youth civic engagement and climate organizing. We convene powerful diverse Maine youth (ages 15-30) from rural and marginalized communities who care about civic and climate justice, connect them with each other, and provide the training and resources needed to be a political force. We have a vision for on-the-ground year-round organizing in rural Maine that also supports civic engagement during the election season.
