Just Roots
Our Purpose
to connect people with the land, infrastructure and know-how necessary to make locally grown food accessible to all. We see food, land, gardening and farming as unique ways for people to connect with one another and with the world around them, and we want to facilitate those connections in our area. By engaging more of the community in this way, we hope to expand the market for local food and create a more resilient local economy. We formed as a group of concerned citizens in 2008, looking for land to found a community garden in Greenfield. Working in partnership with Mount Grace Land Trust and the Town of Greenfield, we successfully put 30 acres of former town poor farm under APR this past year, and signed a 15-year lease with the town to create a community farm on the land. This year we have community garden space, and as an organization we are growing a large garden for donation to local hunger relief organizations.
