Our Purpose

Located outside of the Joslin Recreation Center next to William D’Abate Elementary School in Providence, the Joslin Community Garden is a vital community resource! It provides community members in and around Olneyville with space for connection and opportunities to learn about sustainable garden practices. Over 30 neighbors currently have plots in the garden, growing a variety of vegetables and flowers and working together to maintain the space. The Joslin Garden Committee formed in 2024 to support the legacy and efforts of those who came before us to develop this remarkable community assets, and today, we work to empower community autonomy and uplift as we support current and future gardeners in the activation, maintenance, and development of the Joslin Community Garden going forward. Now with Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC) as our fiscal agent, The Joslin Community Garden aligns its activites with the visions and goals of the Olneyville Resilience Hub and the WRWC Nuevas Voces Community to “empower and inspire action for our neighborhoods, futures and river.” We conduct all activity and meetings in Spanish and provide English translation as needed. As much as possible, we invite the public to learn alongside us as we grow and sustian our healthy and nourishing future.
