Our Purpose
Joint Family is a social initiative that seeks to connect younger and older adults from diverse backgrounds through science, arts and tech. Our efforts are driven by four core principles: community engagement, collaborative learning, civic deliberation and collective action across generations. By combining online workshops, in-person gatherings, and focused bootcamps, our programs aim to empower participants from different ages and backgrounds to learn together, exchange perspectives and contribute meaningfully to local issues related to climate risk, responsible use of technology, disaster preparedness, mental health, aging and well being.Amid rapid advances in AI and concerns about its impact across sectors, our intergenerational workshops this year have primarily focused on themes such as misinformation & deep fakes, digital inclusion, mental health and companionship in the digital age (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVS5NqsJjEo&feature=youtu.be). Beyond these one-time events, we are also launching programs that bring local residents together on a semi-regular basis to share ideas and co-create. By bridging the generational and digital divide, we aim to create meaningful connections that build towards a more inclusive, resilient and integrated society.
