Jewish Youth Climate Movement
Our Purpose
The Jewish Youth Climate Movement, founded in 2019, is a Gen Z-led movement dedicated to combating climate change and environmental injustice from a Jewish lens. Our goal is to make taking collective action towards climate justice a central, defining feature of what it means to be Jewish over the next decade, empowering the next generation of Jewish youth to be leaders in our fight to build a sustainable and equitable world for all. JYCM is supported by Hazon, the largest faith-based environmental organization in the U.S.By rooting climate activism in Jewish tradition and practices, JYCM has created a unique niche for Jewish youth to bring their whole selves to the work and mobilizing an intergenerational network of support.Around the country, Jewish youth have found community through JYCM. This community enables each of our more than 400 members to engage in climate justice action and activism that is rooted in their Judaism. Currently, youth in Boston lack this opportunity. We are excited to provide a platform for Jewish youth to activate and mobilize their community through a regional JYCM cohort. The JYCM Boston cohort will engage, inspire, and activate teens to respond to the climate crisis, creating a robust cultural force in our collective fight for a just, equitable, and livable future. JYCM offers its members the unique opportunity to activate their moral, cultural, and spiritual identities into education and advocacy.
