Our mission is to build opportunity, community, and a sustainable future for Maine’s working waterfront. We work with children, youth and adults to teach traditional wooden boatbuilding skills, an appreciation of forest and maritime ecology, traditional lobstering, and responsibility for maintaining the integrity and health of maritime livelihoods. Initially a summer program, we now offer year-round programming and curriculum for the Cranberry Isles schools. All aspects of our current and future programming have sustainability as a goal – sustainability of an island community, its ecology, its traditions, and its livelihoods. As a community organization, we strive to hear and respond to the needs of our island.
