Our purpose is to increase awareness of and access to affodable, healthy, and sustainability food in Roxbury and neighboring communities. We do this by educating youth about career opportunities in Urban Agriculture, food science, culinary arts, etc. We (in partnership with Haley House) operate a job readiness youth employment program on an urban farm in Roxbury that employs teens all summer to learn how to grow, harvest, prepare, and share healthy food in a community space that encourages food interaction through education, experimentation, and rituals of daily contact (crop tending). Sharing harvests at a 'community pot-luck' gives teens the opportunity to engage with an inter-generational audience to discuss the experiences, challenges, and rewards of participating in the local Green economy.
