Our Purpose
Hope & Main is a non-profit organization created to help food-based entrepreneurs produce and sell their products. We have spent nearly three years visiting commercial kitchens, talking to chefs, farmers and fisherman about their needs for bringing their food to the market. Using their input, we have designed kitchens for a variety of food producers, including a processing kitchen, gluten-free/vegan kitchen and a large culinary kitchen for cooking teams. We will use these kitchens to "incubate" food entrepreneurs--including mentoring, training and licensing and offering a market to sell products and get consumer feedback. We also work to educate children about nutrition and food preparation with a demonstration kitchen and bring local, affordable food to the community through our partners. Hope & Main received a USDA Community Facilities loan of $3 million for construction of the kitchens, with an opening in fall 2013. The request is for interim expenses.
