Ho Fan, Inc. (HF) was founded with a clear mission: to combat food waste and hunger while promoting sustainability in schools. While volunteering at our children’s school lunches, we witnessed both waste and disparities and realized that much could be done through education and redirection. By rescuing excess food from schools—and eventually other organizations—we redirect it to food pantries and individuals in need, reducing waste and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.A key goal of HF is to establish a school food rescue sustainability program that can self-run within schools. By providing structured protocols, education, and resources, we aim to empower schools to manage their own food recovery efforts efficiently. This ensures a long-term, systematic approach to food waste reduction and redistribution, making sustainability an integral part of school operations.Ultimately, our goal is to build a replicable model and integrate it into the town's green initiatives, ensuring that surplus food is consistently recovered and redistributed each year. The grant will enable us to expand education, advocacy, and direct action, fostering a more sustainable, waste-conscious, and food-secure future for our local communities and beyond.  Thank you!
