Our Purpose

Heal the Hood is a grassroots mutual aid organization striving to uplift underserved communities in Boston by creating meaningful and positive social change. We do this through community organizing, empowering neighbors, and providing FREE resources through various initiatives, including but not limited to:
  • Feed the Hood: Weekly grocery distribution throughout various Boston public housing communities
  • The People’s Free Store: A free resource center serving low-income individuals with clothes, food, household goods, and other essential items
  • G’s to Gents: A direct aid program focused on personal and professional growth for men of color
  • Youth Programming: Free after-school programs offering mentorship, tutoring, meals, and safe spaces to at-risk Boston youth
This year, HTH is working to launch a new project: Grow the Hood, an urban food sovereignty initiative. Grow the Hood is a home gardening program that seeks to enable community members in project housing to grow fresh produce at home, fostering self-sufficiency and healthier food choices. This is a pilot project that will improve the viability and sustainability of food sovereignty and community care
