Our Purpose

to get middle school students outside into nature and immersed in a gardening-for-wildlife culture. They are primarily building and maintaining a 900 sqft native moth and butterfly garden and learning about the plants that host caterpillars and feed adults, and the life cycles of lepidoptera. This spring we are expanding our focus to not only maintaining the current garden, but also to adding trees and shrubs to the rest of the school's 200 acres that are all wildlife-friendly and native. Recently the school expanded, constructing a track and a new building, and we had to lose some mature trees to do this construction. The Garden Club students want to plant new trees to replace the ones cut down, and learn about reforestation.
