Our Purpose

Harbor Place is a short-term transitional housing facility for the homeless, purchased by Champlain Housing Trust in the fall of 2013. What makes this facility unique is that housing case management is provided on-site to assist the homeless in securing permanent housing. While case managers primarily assist clients in securing appropriate housing, they also support them with other needs, such as job searches, bringing clients to medical appointments, advocacy, and assuring that clients are able to access benefits to which they are entitled. Looking to fill as many immediate needs of the homeless as possible, there are other on-site services provided, which includes periodical medical services by Safe Harbor; hot meals; distribution of food, toiletry and clothing donations; and financial literacy training. Other services are currently being developed, including resume assistance, yoga, a summer resource fair, and a community garden.
