The purpose of this group is to help maintain a newly constructed elementary school garden as a tool to edcuate students, teachers and parents about sustainability: socially, economically, and environmentally. Beyond the practical use of the garden for growing fruits and vegetables, our garden has sparked conversations about composting, seed diveristy, food miles, butterfly habitats, and more. After a very successful first season, there is a steady growing interest and cultural shift that is happening in our school. It is our goal to continue to support a successful garden program that, with time, becomes more and more intergrated into our classroom teacher's standard units.
