Our Purpose

The Hamden County Energy Cooperative is a local chapter of Coop Power, a community cooperative that helps individuals navigate complex energy decisions, and provides low cost energy services to its membership and the community at large.  The Hamden County Energy Cooperative is group that seeks to promote social equity with regard to energy matters, provide job growth and training in low income, high minority areas, and help people contribute to climate change reduction and resiliency.  We are a chapter of the much larger cooperative enterprise Coop Power, which started in 2004 advocating for local empowerment around energy issues.  The Hamden County Energy Cooperative, located in Springfield, MA, began in 2014.
