TES’ Growing Up Green mission is transforming education through its greenhouse, nature trails, outdoors classroom, and garden initiatives; and ending food insecurity in our community. Students are involved in all areas of growing, harvesting, and eating fresh produce which augment hands-on learning in academic subjects, as well as builds socio-emotional skills including taking initiative and perseverance. Garden-produced food has been used in classroom taste-tests, as well as in TES breakfast/lunch programs. In 2019/2020 the initiative opened the Timberwolf Community Cupboard in collaboration with Bar Harbor Food Pantry (BHFP). This provides access to locally grown produce to 73-100 family units regularly.
