The Groton Farmers Market received a grant in 2009 to make the Farmers Market an even greater success by purchasing some much needed equipment, advertising the market in the local paper, and offering entertainment at the indoor winter markets.
Groton Growers Farmers Market
Our Purpose
The Groton Growers Farmers Market has four basic purposes: 1) the markets provide a year round venue for residents and visitors with a location to purchase fresh, locally grown vegetables, fruits, meats, poultry, honey and even emu from the farmers who grow and raise the food. Farmer/vendors supplement their incomes while residents are assured of the quality and source of their food. (Most residents of Groton and other towns neither raise nor grow any of their food, and as a result, drive at least 15 miles east to Wal-Mart and Shaw's in Woodsville, NH to purchase their food.) 2) support the local agriculture economy by keeping money in the local economy. (Money spent locally has a tendency to stay local). 3) to be a teaching place where people learn about food preparation, gardening, beekeeping and maple sugaring. 4) a gathering place where people love to come, have free coffee or lemonade, and chat with the neighbors they aren't usually able to see during the week.
