Green Sneakers York County is a project of Maine Partners for Cool Communities bringing smart energy information and solutions, like energy efficiency, weatherization and renewables, to York County neighborhoods as part of MPCC's mission to solve global warming one Maine community at a time. After a successful door-to-door canvass in 8 York County towns in October 2011, Green Sneakers launched a pilot follow-up campaign in the area. Several individuals and organizations in Sanford, an economically diverse community, have recently stepped forward to work with GS on a series of workshops to make interior storm windows as a hands-on experience that engages homeowners/church mission groups/others in learning about energy efficiency and solutions that can inexpensively save energy and money and help to reduce the community's carbon footprint. Participants of all ages can join in this work as a seed for more extensive residential energy improvements and renewable energy projects to come.
