Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children
Our Purpose
The Council for Children serves as advocates for children; where there is a need for service, we attempt to find one. Volunteers are always needed to make the work lighter. Sometimes, community members come to the Council because they have discovered that there is a serious gap in a service for children and families. The Council also helps other concerned groups find a way to make a difference in children’s lives. Born in 1972 and funded by the newly created State Office for Children, the Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children has made its mission to fill children's needs in our community. When state funds dried up in 1991, the Council decided to incorporate as a non-profit and run all its programs with volunteers. Nearly 50 years years since our founding, and through the miraculous work of so many good people across our communities, the important work and mission upon which the organization was conceived continues. The good news and the bad news is that the Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children is serving more children and families than ever before. Our first ever Executive Director and only paid staff member was hired in October 2024 and our main goal is to expand our programs to provide year long opportunities for children in need. Ultinmately to serve more children and families.
