Our Purpose

The Great Falls Farmers Market serves the village of Turners Falls and the town of Montague with a space to both buy and sell fresh and local produce, crafts, and second-hand goods. We operate every Wednesday from May through October, rain or shine, from 2-6PM at Peskeomskut Park which is located in the center of a walkable downtown. We operate as a public service in a downtown where many residents don’t have access to cars which can make their options limited when looking for local and organic produce. The market can run SNAP and Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) for any vendor who doesn’t have their own machine. Our ability to process SNAP and HIP benefits is essential as many of our customers can only access their HIP benefits at our market. By keeping our vending fees low ($5/day), we encourage smaller farmers and gardeners to participate in the market while they grow their businesses, and we do not charge fees for community groups or non-profits. We strive to make our market accessible and fun and hope to offer some COVID-safe outdoor programming in 2021, as the market traditionally has served as a space for free yoga, a bike repair workshop, free massage, and more.
