Our purpose is to facilitate engagement in the Glover Community School Garden Program by creating a garden space that welcomes and encourages inquiry and investigation from students, teachers, and community members. We hope that the learning process in the garden can be continuous with students' experiences in their classrooms, cafeteria, and community. Such an educational experience is enriched when students and teachers can take ownership of the garden and their role as stewards of their garden, their school, their community, and one another. Currently, there is too little continuity between the garden and the school building down the hill. Instead of being utilized as the effective educational tool that it might be, the garden is used little more than twice each year: once for the all-school planting in Spring, and again for the all-school harvest in the Fall. This group intends to facilitate and enrich interactions between the garden, the school, and the broader Glover community.
