Global Center for Climate Justice
Our Purpose
The Center’s core aim is to synthesize, elevate and popularize climate justice perspectives and help build movement solidarity. The Center’s mission includes broadening the public’s understanding of climate justice, illustrating why systems change is necessary, and showing emancipatory alternatives already in practice in communities. The Center exists to illuminate the strong links between unjust political-economic systems and institutions and the inequitable outcomes they create. We know that in order to be effective, the different threads that make up this movement for global climate justice need resources to help them reach across issue boundaries, expertise siloes and geographic borders. We believe that providing popular-discourse materials on climate justice and supporting the development of a globally networked movement are critical next steps to addressing the climate crisis. The Center brings value to the grassroots climate justice movement by making leading-edge research broadly accessible. Our approach is explicitly intersectional, and we actively work to connect different ideas, communities, causes and campaigns through virtual bridge-building.
