Our Purpose

to develop new ways of reaching native youth, rooted in traditional cultural teachings, which will provide our young people with the skills and resources to better navigate the challenges they face in a changing landscape.

Summary of Projects

Gedakina received a grant in fall 2010 to support the "Keepers of the Earth" program, which will foster the energy and determination of young people, from middle school through college age from the Native American rural, urban and reservation communities in Massachusetts to become a leading force in promoting environmental justice, conservation and stewardship in their home communities as well as across the state and even region-wide.

Gedakina received a grant in 2008 for the Indigenous Traditional Ecological Knowledge (ITEK) initiatives.

Gedakina received a grant in 2008 to support Indigenous Traditional Ecological Knowledge initiatives, History, Language and Environmental Justice and Restoring the Sacred experimental learning programs for Native American youth that seeks to reestablish the relationship of our people to the environment and to each other and to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for the young people in the region.
