Our Purpose

G.A.L.A.'s mission is to provide education and opportunity that empowers communities to thrive in the face of economic, environmental, and social challenges.  We achieve this through education, installations, and inspirations.  This grant application is focused on a Solarize Wolfeboro project that G.A.L.A. is launching in conjunction with the Wolfeboro Energy Committee.

Summary of Projects

GALA received a grant in 2010 to evaluate various Study Circle programs, including the Northwest Earth Institute/Granite Earth Institute's curriculum, host two test study circle sessions, and determine which program or programs will best fit several goals of G.A.L.A.'s recent strategic plan.

GALA received a grant in 2008 to develop internal capacity and strategic planning to more effectively manage multiple projects.

G.A.L.A. received a grant in 2006 to conduct a Sustainability Assessment of Wolfeboro. The chapters of the Wolfeboro Master Plan - Land/Resource Use, Community Facilities, Downtown, Infrastructure, Milfoil, Recreation, Economic Base, Housing, Impact Fees, Population - serve as the guidelines for the Sustainability Assessment. The three phases of this project include: a) education on "sustainability" in the community with regional success stories and best practices; b) creation of a "sustainability index" to establish attainable goals; c) development and implementation of a plan to reach these goals and secure further benchmark studies.
