Our Purpose

Our purpose is to... help young people discover their unique gifts and talents and apply them as leaders that are growing food sovereignty. Our young people plant the seeds for a just food system in order to grow resilient and sustainable communities. From The Ground UP is a program of Nourish My Soul, yet all of Nourish My Soul is built from the work of and direction of our young leaders in From The Ground UP. Nourish My Soul believes that the key to inspired, lasting change lies in our youth. We work to assist them in unlocking their full potential that will lead and inspire the world to improve in ways that we never imagined. From environmental justice to racial justice - food intersects with it all, so our young people are learning and tackling all of the injustices of our era. From The Ground UP Goals:Create projects that will address the specific food system needs of their particular community.Work within the community to educate about healthy, equitable, and sustainable food systems.Teach young people about nutrition and agriculture.Vision:A just food system for allOur From The Ground UP leaders commit to one full calendar year of service as a high school student. They are able to remain in the program all four years of their high school career. After graduation, our alumni continue to engage and work as mentors for our new leaders. Each year, our leaders learn, research, and develop a project that will sustain after they graduate.
