The Friends of Jamaica Pond received a grant in 2008 to monitor the water quality of Jamaica Pond with youth and others, explore the causes of algae bloom and survey submerged aquatic vegetation and to consult with limnologists, recruit volunteers and develop a remediation watershed protection plan and increase citizen park stewardship. The friends group works to preserve and protect the Emerald Necklace’s Jamaica Pond for future generations.
